Explanations

This web tool allows you to create pattern-based filter definitions for your XG2Anki collection which would otherwise only be possible if you are familiar with Regex. Regex is a common shorthand for a regular expression. Also many simple filter options are included (simple = possible without Regex) to have everything you may need about filtering in one place. First you define your filter criteria by entering the minimum and maximum number of checkers for one or more fields on the backgammon board and / or by using one or more of the other filter options that this tool is offering you. When ready you click on the COPY button to create and copy the filter statement to your clipboard so that you can paste into the Anki search field in the browse window or in the filtered deck dialog.

Position Pattern

  • The number fields on the left in each table cell define the minimum number of checkers on that field.
  • The number fields on the right in each table cell define the maximum number of checkers on that field.
  • The upper number fields in each table cell defines the number of checkers of the top player.
  • The lower number fields in each table cell defines the number of checkers of the bottom player.
  • -1 means that the condition is undefined.
  • If the minimum value is higher than the maximum value, the two values are swapped.
  • If the definitions for the bottom player and the top player are mutually exclusive, the definitions for the bottom player apply.

Copy & Paste

  • When you make a right-click on an area with a board number or a bar label the values of the four fields in that cell are copied.
  • When you left-click on an area with a board number or a bar label the copied values are pasted into the fields of that cell.

Use an XGID as a template

  • You can copy an XGID from the software eXtremeGammon into the input field and then click on the button Init (on the right side of the XGID input field) to initialize the filter conditions based on that XGID.
  • If you check the option Treat empty fields as undefined, for all empty points in the XGID the corresponding filter fields will be set to -1 (= undefined) instead off to 0 (= empty).
  • If you check the option Treat empty fields as zero or one checker, for all empty points in the XGID the corresponding filter fields will be set to minimum 0 and maximum 1.
  • If you check the option Treat two checkers on a point as minimum, for all points with exactly two checkers in the XGID the corresponding filter fields will be set to minimum 2 and maximum 15.
  • If you check the option Ignore Bottom/Top Player's Checkers all checkers of that player are removed from the XGID before doing the initialization.

Listboxes

  • When more than one entry will be selected from a listbox (via CTRL/CMD + Click) the selected entries will get combined with "OR" unless otherwise stated.
  • You can deselect an entry with CTRL/CMD + Click on a selected entry.
